Carbon Steel knife with deer bone handle, brass rivets and a BIG carnelian on the end.

Kitchen Knife

This was a passion project.  A friend gave us a sun-bleached deer bone he had found on his property.  The shape aligned perfectly with a carbon steel knife blank and it just had to happen.  Carefully we cut the bone into two equal sides, filled it with resin, drilled the holes, and riveted solid brass rod through the whole piece to put it together.  Then came the bejeweling part....a brass bolster for a clean connection between the bone and the blade and a BIG carnelian on the butt end of the handle. Carnelian has a long tradition and is one of the favored stones of the ancients. This bespoke knife is used daily  while dining and during kitchen prep.
