The words diminutive, understated, sparkly, comfy are the first that come to mind with these earrings. They are super on trend while still a timeless design. Excellent earrings for those who want to sleep in their jewelry or for those of us who are on the phone a lot. This is a good way to upcycle gold pieces that you do not wear any more. We first melted some high karat gold and fused it into a sphere. We then forged the gold out into a patty shape, annealed it (heating the gold to relax it and make it soft again), forge, anneal, forge, making it thinner with every pass. Definitely a labor of love.
When it is the right thickness and diameter, we bead-set some high quality diamonds and engraved a starburst pattern onto the surface.
Bear in mind that this is all done under a microscope and under high magnification- the earring is about 4.5mm across. That is TINY TOWN! Funny to come out from under the scope, look around the room, and realize that this very small thing is as big as a house in your mind's eye.
Wishing we had photos of all of these we have made over the years. The first pair we made was about 30 years ago, and they still look great.
