This cup is solid, hand-wrought sterling silver. It is fabricated out of 14 gage sterling sheet- not raised.The bottom has a nice concave dome to it and says "Love, Mom".
The side has the child's name and birthdate professionally hand-engraved in script by a master engraver, since retired.
The handle is inspired from "the golden ratio" which often occurs often in nature and is aesthetically very pleasing. Thick square silver was bent and forged into the shape, with February's birthstone (amethyst) bezel-set into the top of the handle.
Each edge of the cup has a round wire to make it comfortable to drink from.
This cup will outlive all of us. The metal was planished (lightly hammered) for days so it will keep the form without easily denting. This cup is truly a labor of love. Now we understand why most baby cups are mass produced and spun. It is a lot of work to make it in this way!
