Met Opera Post Earrings

The iconic golden silk curtain opens upon the world-famous stage at the Metropolitan Opera.  It was put up when the Opera first moved to its current Lincoln Center location in 1966.

After several decades, the Opera House replaced the curtain and we were asked to make jewelry out of the retired golden silk.  Opera music and stage productions are almost a religion to many, so we got to thinking about icons and how they are displayed- relics like the dead sea scrolls, the shroud of Christ, or a piece of the original cross.

We have carefully cut out a 1/2" circle of the original golden silk and placed it behind glass.  The words "MetOpera" are inscribed on the back of each earring.  To purchase these post earrings, do so directly through the Opera Shop.
