We are lucky enough to work with the Metropolitan Opera making jewelry out of the crystals from the world famous Sputnik Chandeliers. These crystals were removed and replaced during a major overhaul by the original Austrian chandelier maker. The chandeliers were originally a gift from the Austrian government.
Our favorite of all the Sputnik crystals is this one, the 25mm round. We put nice details on this necklace. From each sterling silver disc on the edge of the genuine Sputnik crystal, to the stamped oval proudly featuring the Met Opera logo, with each seam soldered and made by hand. The chain is high quality sterling, made at a hundred year old chain manufacturer in Massachusetts.
This necklace can be worn at two lengths- both at 36" (which, by the way, is called "opera length!") and at 18", using the smartly integrated toggle clasp. The circle hangs from the crystal, and the corresponding 'T" is in the back. Smart and subtle!
