Tartan Bands

Tartan Bands

In designing this set of wedding bands, we spoke of the joining of clans. There are family crest rings, of course, but we wanted to make something that goes all of the way around the band. The groom is of Scottish descent so we decided to figure out a way to take the plaid/ tartan of his clan and break it down into a pattern with no color. This took some time and got into some confusing math to represent each color as a different width on the pattern on the band.

The ring blanks were made by 3D printing it in sterling silver. We then turned the silver blank into a ring, filed it until it was perfect, and cast it in 18K yellow gold.

The design work that went into this took some time. To recreate this set is about 2,000- depending on how involved the mathematics of your tartan is!
